Iraq Is Suffering ~ A Shameful American Legacy

In Search of Peace with Cindy Sheehan

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall - think of it, always."
- Gandhi

The memory may get sketchy with time, an undeniable fact of being human. Some have better memories, while others feel the need to alter tweak and change historical facts.

Iraq will become the 'Story' handed down to the next generation through oral history, not likely found in school books... not the truth anyway. Like other shameful act's of the American Elite, the best little oppressors around -- Slavery, Women's Suffrage, Child Labor and Civil Right Abusers, these subjects rarely make it to the institution of elementary education in a truthful portrayal.

Or if they were being discussed at all, anywhere, those pockets of progressive visionary educators will be bulldozed underground, along with the public school system. Never forget Hurricane Katrina 2005, the distruction of American Gulf Coast towns and cities - New Orleans with the breach of the levee's! And why would Iraq or Afghanistan be talked about in the classroom, at all?

Most likely it will become the feel good story of the day in some quarters. You know, like when the Native American needed saving.....the Calvary was summoned because of the Indians, then it was decided that they needed and got Religion. Religion made the uncivilized civilized, like the religious radicals that believed they were civilized? Religion was used to con the public, religion was used to strip away the culture of the original North American people and with that went their ownership of land and all of its resources. Religion, Assimilation, Democracy....which word doesn't fit, but is used in place of the other two?

Though they - the original people of the land were allowed to live on Reservations, in an assigned dust bowl territory back then, by some shadowy government figures. It is no different then what is happening to the original people of Iraq. Their culture is so very ancient, that it will take great courage, immense strength and unending dedication to recover the pieces of lost history. Ah...the Do Gooders of Democracy aka the Elite Agenda e-Racer, they are legends in their own minds, as it were.

Well, we know what really happened, don't we. Wonder why it is always the tone of skin that determines who is a savage and who is a savior?

The time is nearing when the 2008 elections will either Make US or Break US....... I think that we have this one chance to make things right ..... always knowing that we can't give back a life lost, We sure as hell can give back the peoples country and get out. Because we don't belong there, we never did.

Our shame will run deep and long with this one, too.

600,000 Iraqis Killed By War, Credible? William M. Arkin on National and Homeland Security "In the ways of sampling sizes, standard errors, reliability and validity, the John Hopkins team claims being 95 percent certain that their 600,000 number is right. The true number -- the margin of error -- ranges from 400,000 to 900,000 deaths overall." By William M. Arkin October 13, 2006

Counting Lives Lost, Making Tangible an Abstract Measure of Grief by ~Bradley photos by Bradley artist statement (below) by Kathleen Crocetti Sunday Jun 4th, 2006 "I want people on both sides of the war debate to come see my work, it is a memorial. Each American figure has an American Flag across his/her chest and then 16 anonymous shadow figures standing behind. The shadow figures represent the 1:16 ratio of Iraqi dead to American dead. The 1:16 ratio is very conservative; we do not know exactly how many Iraqis have died. Of the 39,400 known Iraqi dead only 3,500 of them have been named, the other 90% are anonymous to us. They are certainly not anonymous to their families. "

Tufts University Gallery Collateral Damage, 2006
By Rebecca Heyl "I have created a mixed media presentation using fabric and collage. Collateral Damage represents the rising number of deaths due to the Iraq war — the more than 50,000 recorded deaths resulting directly from the violence — as well as the indirect, and often unreported deaths. The installation will create a space for mourning and remembrance of the dead — Iraqi or American, combatant or civilian."

American warplanes continued to pound Afghanistan Sunday night, despite reports of more residential areas being mistakenly bombed earlier in the day.
Some prominent U.S. Republicans, however, are now calling for a large number of American ground troops to take part in the hunt for the terrorists who orchestrated the Sept. 11 attacks.

Neighbours pulled the bodies of a father and his seven children from the rubble. U.S. jets were apparently aiming at military targets on the northern and eastern edge of the city.
