Turmoil
I emailed C-SPAN yesterday morning when a guest couldn't help out a caller with information to services for the blind.
I emailed some information for the man who was trying to continue his education. The guest was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and was speaking to questions and concerns about Financial Aid.
She didn't know about the services for people with disabilities, which happens to be one of the corner stone initiatives of the people in Minnesota.
So I am hoping that the C-SPAN staff provided the information to her too.
This morning I caught the General's interview and was instantly struck at how militarily conditioned he was.
I am a huge pacifist, but I at least was open to listening to him and the callers that support his campaign.
Well, I listened and I am now an even bigger Pacifist than before, if that's possible. It is the job of the military to serve, protect and defend.
The Iraq Invasion and Occupation sadly have to have people like the General, otherwise most of our troops won't make it back physically.
If you rigidly believe in a product, rigidly market that product and actively sell that product, you can't objectively promote another product.
You can't even entertain the idea that there is something better than what you have. Even if there is an alternative.
Journey for Humanity and Accountability, Day 14
"Unfortunately, for the last 6 years, the Republicans in Congress have largely viewed themselves as defenders of the Bush Administration, instead of a vital check on overreaching by the Executive Branch."
"When we arrive at Congressman John Conyers' (D-MI), office today we will arrive with over 1 million signatures on petitions to impeach George Bush and Dick Cheney."
"I wonder how many more of our troops and Iraqis they are willing to sacrifice on the altar of partisan politics?"
Note: Congressman Conyers, a Democratic Party Member, promptly had Cindy arrested

New York Times Editorial Mr. Gonzales’s Never-Ending Story Opinion Published: July 29, 2007
"Mr. Comey and Mr. Mueller intercepted the White House team, and they say they watched as a groggy Mr. Ashcroft refused to sign off on the wiretapping and told the White House officials to leave."
"Mr. Comey said the White House later modified the eavesdropping program enough for the Justice Department to sign off."
Note: What's that law where a wife doesn't haven't to testify against her husband?
[A]ppellant shot his wife with a pistol, thereby inflicting serious arm and abdominal injuries. All further facts were fogged by the substantially different stories told by the victim, Mrs._______, before and during the trial, and by her admitted collusion with and lying for the appellant.
Q. Mrs.______, isn’t it true that near the end of August or September time frame, that you were severely beaten by the accused?
A. No. I wouldn’t say severely beaten.
Q. Did ______ Police Department intervene?
A. Yes.
Q. And was First Sergeant _______ notified?
A. Yes.
Q. What would –- how would you characterize the beating?
A. There were a few slaps on both parts. That was basically it.
This may be a severe example to making my point, it does show even in the face of life threatening circumstance, the abused has altered the seriousness of the assualt.
Thereby down playing the facts of the case.
There is something odd about the way the current AG makes testimony. It has bugged me since I started watching the hearings several months ago. Does AG suffer the battered wife syndrome?
In my opinion, I think he does. Being battered is not only about physical beating, it also involves psychological abuse, manipulation and a long time game of passive aggressive behavior between the abuser and the abused.
The abused will protect the abuser at all cost. No matter how outrageous they sound in their defense of the abuser, the abused believes that their actions have the power to fix the abuser without the help of others out side of the relationship.
If this isn't the case with the AG, then what could it be? I promised myself I wouldn't try to analyze the Gonzales hearings, but it is bugging the heck out of me to no end.
