OBSTRUCTIONISTS infested Congress well before the 110th arrived. The transparency that the new 110th touted they would deliver, is right on schedule.
While the Republican majority were / are the abusers for so long, the Democratic minority -- now the majority, is the codependent of this national mess.
Playing martyr isn't going to fly with the American people. Cutting off ones nose to spite their face isn't going to work either. If you lose the whole trust of the people, it will be you -- 110th...all of you. We won't care what party you belong to. When you lose the entire trust of the people, we lose our democracy.
I hate to sound mean, but I wonder if Congress will run home to find sympathetic shoulders to cry on. And when people -- constituates share their logic and wisdom, Congress will skip back to the hill and forget what the people asked for, again.
Opening the can of the wormiest worms has been achieved. The nation is continuously jolted by what appears to be absolute corruption crawling within the walls of government. Does Congress seem outraged? Something is missing in this really sinister soap opera.
Maybe the progressive gentlewomen and men of Congress have something brilliant up their sleeves. Better be good. Cuz, I don't think I could bear to watch anymore ludicrous behavior of another Obstructionist, giving their version of testimony.
If Congress is leaving for vacation, it makes me doubt their concern about anything they are showing us through the media. Are they so politically battered and bruised as to what's going on in the Capital, that they can't stay in Congress to protest the long list of obstructionism?
It isn't just humiliating, because the World sees this too, it is completely deflating to the American spirit as well. The recent Gonzales show didn't have me cheering at all, there's no satisfaction in 'seeing' incompetence. I just felt so cheated, thinking "there's my tax dollars at work?" There's everyone's tax dollars at work?
And knowing that our system is infested with people, all over the U.S., who are the most anti-American, I believe I've ever witnessed in my life, I'm paying them to destroy my country. Does Congress know how DYSFUNCTIONAL that feels?
Every time I think I can't be shocked any more, here comes another one. I worry that I will go numb before the 110th Congress steps up and does their job. That to me, would be the worst thing that could happen, to go numb.
I will just have to stop trying to analyze what each hearing really means to our democracy and start understanding that this parade of insanity is beyond my grasp.
If not for people like Cindy Sheehan and Keith Ellison, I wouldn't have a positive national symbol to hold on to during these disturbing times.
These two truly inspire me the most. They have that thing that makes patriotism come alive, that snap and pop they emit when they speak. Their bravery makes me feel brave too. Even when the after shocks hit, I can always hear Cindy and Keith above the noise of the Obstructionists.

BREAKING: Newly Obtained Emails Reveal GOP '04 Vote Supression Scheme BLOGGED BY Brad Friedman ON 7/26/2007 "Previously undisclosed documents detail how Republican operatives, with the knowledge of several White House officials, engaged in an illegal, racially-motivated effort to suppress tens of thousands of votes during the 2004 presidential campaign in a state where George W. Bush was trailing his Democratic challenger, Senator John Kerry." AND "The documents also contain details describing how Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign officials, and at least one individual who worked for White House political adviser Karl Rove, planned to stop minorities residing in Cuyahoga County from voting on election day."
Chasing Alberto The Left Coaster Thursday July 26, 2007 "With the August recess coming, Democrats need to get on the same page and force their GOP counterparts to answer the question during the break as to whether or not they support Gonzales."
The Left Coaster Too Much Time Left for Bush—and Democrats by paradox Thursday July 26, 2007
"Our Democratic DC political leadership and intelligentsia are still clueless that the remedy to the constitutional crisis screaming at them in the face is to remove the Executive, give up the Iraq occupation and take the gamble that the uncertain caretaker leadership left in the White House for whatever is left of Bush’s term is the only alternative left for the country. It’s a lot better than war with Iran, it’s that simple."
I Don’t Hate America! Farm bill debate underway; Walz, Peterson, Kline, Goodlatte July 26th, 2007 by DJ Danielson [UPDATE 2] "The Kind/Flake amendment fails 117-309. Looks like that will be all for the Farm Bill tonight. I always laugh when the parliamentarian has to guide the Speaker Pro Temp through every little process and still has to ask “Now what?” into the microphone." [/Update 2]
AllBusiness.com Business Intelligence - SBA Cooked Books on Katrina Loans to Help Bush Save Face By Keith Girard Thursday, SBA Whitewashes Relief
Agency staffers reveal a pattern of mismanagement just to improve the tarnished image of the Bush administration. July 26 2007 "We were being forced by management to cancel, decline, and withdraw applications to make the numbers look good to the public." —SBA loan officer
"To the SBA, however, Katrina victims were a political problem that had to be dealt with. The three-strike rule wasn't the only high-pressure tactic that SBA officials used on their employees.
Loan officers were also ordered to disburse loan proceeds "without contacting the borrowers, even when SBA had not heard from the borrower in several months, or had not received additional documents needed for disbursement."
Harper's Magazine The President’s Torture Order Scott Horton July 26, 2007 "I read through the text once quickly. It didn’t sit right with me. Indeed, if the White House wanted to do away with torture, that would be easy enough. But instead this order was filled, stem to stern, with slippery evasive words—I’ve spent enough time tracking this issue, listening to Alberto Gonzales, Dick Cheney, David Addington, Stephen Cambone, Donald Rumsfeld, Jim Haynes and others to know that they have developed their own—wink, nod—vocabulary. They use words in a way that defies the usual English language understanding. And this order was sprinkled from start to end with weasel words."
"Policymakers should also keep in mind that violations of Common Article 3 are “war crimes” for which everyone involved — potentially up to and including the president of the United States — may be tried in any of the other 193 countries that are parties to the conventions."
