July 11, 2006 By Jarvis DeBerry of The Times Picayune - A Wide Net Won't Help...Good investigative reporting.

Editorial written by a concerned mother, who shares her sons and her take on recent statements made by St. Tammanys Sheriff Strain. A persons hairstyle doesn't reflect anything other than choice. Any Sheriffs statement that threatens a person because of specific cultural hairstyle, is conducting one function of racial profiling. If this is how Sheriff Strain trains to do business, than St. Tammany will need to watch their law enforcement for excessive action on their citizens, while their law enforcement watches the citizens for forced conformity. Sad but true commentary in the world of valuing diversity. This is not nit picking, this is prejudice. Warning: This is not an isolated incident......link to The Times Picayune to read more.....
